IEEE SP is organizing a one-day symposium on "Biomedical Signal Processing".
Welcome to the IEEE SP Bangalore Chapter !
Bangalore is already in the lime light of world software technology scene and the reasons for it are not difficult to find. The presence of Institutes of advanced study, such as IISc, national R&D laboratories such as NAL and DRDO and key public sector organizations such as BEL, ITI, have all contributed to the necessary impetus and ambience for this achievement. Lately, private national and multi-national companies have also added to this growth, bringing pride and visibility.
Signal processing technology, being generic in its nature and having diverse applications, has also witnessed a similar growth and presence in Bangalore. While many of these have been mentioned elsewhere, we can recall a few such as a quarter century of research and teaching of digital signal processing at IISc (almost in parallel with the developments on the world scene), several communication/radar system developments of DRDO, more than a decade of presence of TI, Bangalore, developing DSP tools and processors, and others. It is also noteworthy that Bangalore has been hosting the SPCOM series of conferences, providing a forum for high quality technical interaction, for the last about a decade.
But, all this activity is happening without a common identity. Given the sizeable number of people involved in DSP in Bangalore and their high calibre, it would bring great pride and inspiration to see all these activities under a common banner. This will add further impetus to growth in this area. Major events in DSP such as the ICASSP and other specialized symposia of the IEEE Signal Processing society should be made accessible to a majority of the local community. Also, there are a good number of NRI experts in DSP who would like to interact with the local groups and enhance the technology growth.
Given the rich variety of DSP activities happening in Bangalore, it would befit to attract IEEE symposia/workshops to Bangalore and aim for an ICASSP before the end of the new decade. Such events would add pride and visibility to the good work being done by the local engineers and scientists. Considering these possibilities, the IEEE Bangalore Section is happy to support the formation of a IEEE Signal Processing Society Chapter. We would like to seek the support and contribution of fellow DSPians in Bangalore to make this a reality.
IEEE SP Bangalore Mailing list
As part of our initiative to provide better information flow across members and volunteers of the SP Bangalore chapter, a new LISTSERV list has been setup. All current subscribers of the old list, have been moved to this new list.
Some key points to note regarding the mailing list:
New subscription is now easy. If you want to subscribe to the list, from your email send a mail to LISTSERV@LISTSERV.IEEE.ORG and type "subscribe ieeesp-blr" without quotes in the body of the message. Leave the subject line blank. More information on using LISTSERV is available at, http://listserv.ieee.org/
Membership :
All IEEE Signal Processing Society members of Bangalore Section are automatically members of IEEE Signal Processing Society, Bangalore Chapter. Institutional support is requested in the form of participation in the specific activities of the chapter.
All professionals are invited to become members of the IEEE Signal Processing Society and contribute to and get benefited by the specific activities of the chapter.
